Hi, I'm Sarah Stacy and I am a 5th grade teacher at Monta Loma. This is my 14th year in the Mountain View Whisman School District. I have taught 5th grade, second grade, a 4/5 combination class, and even middle school on occasion during summer school sessions. I initially graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Recreation Resources from Oregon State University. I worked as a Wilderness Ranger for three years for the Forest Service in Oregon. Then I joined the staff at Bradford Woods, an environmental education program associated with Indiana University. While working in environmental education, I realized how much I enjoyed educating and working with children. I went back to school to earn my teaching credential. I joined the Mountain View Whisman School District in 2002.
As an educator, my goal is to support my students as individual learners and help them reach their highest potential both socially and academically. I work to provide a safe and encouraging classroom for students to become independent and self-reflective learners.
When I'm not teaching, I have several hobbies that keep me busy. Cycling is one of my favorite hobbies. You'll probably see me from time to time riding my bike to school or to the farmer's market. I watch the Amgen Tour of California and the Tour de France every year. I love being in the outdoors, but I also enjoy reading, listening to music (I was a DJ in college), and going to the movies.
I'm excited to be back teaching 5th grade this year. I am certainly looking forward to a great year!
